Workspaces are shared areas inside Central Desktop that you can use to manage a department, team, project or just to use as an intranet. Your Central Desktop account is like an office building, and a workspace is like an individual office within it!
You can create a whole new workspace for a new project – each project can have its own workspace, own online calendar, own filing system, own contact list and restricted access to only members allowed to participate in the project.
Workspaces for Web Based Project Management
Here’s a popular use for workspaces. Let’s say you start a new project, open up a new workspace for it, and now you need to track your project progress and completion rate.
- Enable the Reports tab by going to Settings -> Configuration Panel and check the Reports box.
- Create a Project Status Report, found under the Reports Tab. This report allows you to check the status of each task, deadline and milestone in a printable report format. You can edit the details to show the owner of each task, the due date, the current status and completion date.
- Create a Activity Log Report, which shows workspace activity for a given date range. Workspace activities are stored for 3 months, so you can pull past project data as well.
- Create a Log In Report, which allows you to see the last date each member logged into the workspace.
This is just one way you can use workspaces in Central Desktop for web based project management!
